FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is it
scary?
Yes, the evening tours are scary and not recommended for children
under 14 unless accompanied by an adult. The weekend matinee tours are more
fun than scary, and are suitable for pre-school, primary and elementary school age
children.
Can I bring
my children?
Evening shows are not recommended for children younger than 14
years unless accompanied by an adult. Please do NOT drop off children
unaccompanied - we will not be able to sell tickets to them without an
adult present. The weekend matinees are suitable for young children - at
least one adult must accompany each group of children to ensure
appropriate supervision.
What
happens when I go inside?
Harbour Haunt is an elaborate, dark maze with many twists and
turns designed to disorient, confuse and scare you! Groups of ten people
at a time move through the maze, guided at the front and rear by trained
volunteer guides so that nobody gets lost or <gulp> abducted - it's been
known to happen, but we really, really try to get everyone out alive!
Will the
spooks and monsters touch me?
Maybe! You won't be grabbed or pushed, but you never know when you
might have a scary creature brush past you or when you'll feel the
light, eerie touch or breath of a spook or a goblin. We ask that you respect
our volunteer actors and not touch them.
Is the tour
wheelchair accessible?
Of course! Harbour Haunt is operated by Easter Seals
Newfoundland and Labrador - a charitable organization that provides
programs for children with physical disabilities. Only a few of
our scares aren't fully accessible, so suitable by-pass routes have been
constructed in these areas.
Will I have
to wait long in the line-up?
Harbour Haunt is a very popular event, so there will be line-ups.
We work hard to minimize your wait time. On quiet nights you may get in immediately and on
weekend nights you may have to wait longer. We sell timed tickets in
half hour blocks, and make every effort to ensure your tour starts
within the half hour time slot indicated on your ticket. You can
purchase tickets as early as 6:00 pm when our box office opens and select any half hour block of
time between opening at 7:00 pm and closing at 10:30 pm (or later on
weekends).
Are group
bookings available this year?
A limited number of group bookings are available for evening
tours. Groups of 10 or more may pre-purchase tickets for tours at 7:30 pm,
8:00 pm, 9:30 pm or 10:00 pm. Pre-booking tickets allows your group
to pick up your tickets at the box office just before your booked time
and enter Harbour Haunt at or near the time on your tickets. Call the haunt line
at 754-1399 for bookings. A surcharge fee of $10 applies to
each group booking.
Is Harbour
Haunt the same every year?
Of course not! We know we have many repeat customers who
just love Harbour Haunt. Every year we like to mix it up, change things
around, and add new scares for your entertainment. Harbour Haunt is
different every year. What awaits you this year?!?
How do the
children's weekend matinees work?
We offer children's matinee tours from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm on
Saturdays and Sundays (ending on Oct 31). The box office opens at 10:30 and closes
between 3:00 pm and 3:30 pm, depending on how fast tickets sell - we
recommend purchasing tickets before 2:00 pm to avoid disappointment.
We offer two levels for different ages - "red light" is lots of fun and
not too scary for younger children and "green light" is more scary, but
still kid-friendly.
What if I
"chicken out"?
In 2008 we counted 633 "chickens" out of the 13,790 people
who dared to visit! If you just can't take any more scares, a
guide will help you out of the maze. All ticket sales are final - as
proceeds from Harbour Haunt go to Easter Seals programs for children
with physical disabilities, refunds will not be issued.
RULES AND WARNINGS
(please take these seriously)
Groups of ten
visitors are guided through the maze. Please do not stray from your
group. Advise the front or rear guide accompanying your group if there
is any problem.
Do not, under
any circumstances, touch the cast members. They are volunteers working
hard to entertain you - they deserve your respect.
Harbour Haunt

suitable for everyone. We recommend against people with heart
conditions entering.
Strobe lights
are in operation in parts of the maze. This is a consideration for
people with epilepsy.
Fog machines
are in use - caution to those with asthma.
Allergy

For the safety
of our volunteers and customers, we reserve the right to deny admittance
to those under the influence of alcohol and/or anyone behaving
inappropriately.
Children age
14 and under will not be admitted to the evening tours without an adult.
