Horizons Program
The Easter Seals Horizons
Program, funded by Service Canada, is for young adults, ages
18-30 and
runs in sessions of up to one year in duration. The program is
both intensive and extensive, offering classroom and seminar
training in life skills and vocational development.
Under Horizons, participants develop
a career plan and work with trained counselors to start bringing
it forward. A significant portion of the program is devoted to
work experience, that is, paid work placements in either the
private or not-for-profit sectors.
Horizons boasts over a 50%
success rate, with graduates going on to full-time employment or
to higher levels of education.
